Still learning things on video renders. Or perhaps I should say, the AIs still have much to learn!

This is in a current post (F4F-4 Wildcat) at planedave.net but notice an essential flaw? The propeller is spinning the wrong way. And the renderer (I tried several at OpenArt, but now I’ve wasted enough points…) will not spin the propeller in the correct rotation! It does not seem to show any difference with “clockwise” and “counter-clockwise”! Seriously, I tried both. So close, and yet so far away!

I would see if a video renderer can reverse the video – play it backwards. Poof. The propeller is going the right way…

Or maybe its just an Australian plane – it only works in the Southern Hemisphere. 😉

I’m not surprised it can’t get this right. I would try “spinning right” vs “spinning left” vs clockwise,counter-clockwise. Part of it I think is because “counter-clockwise” contains “clockwise” and is heavily relative. Clockwise from the perspective of the user? The aircraft? Its just going to be confusing to the AI without so much specificity that you have no room in the description for anything *but* the propeller.

Heck. Half the time I can’t get it understand basic facing – with respect to the image or between actors in the frame. Its just not that savvy.

Hah funny, yes if it were Australian…

It did surprise me neither instruction fixed it. It was frustrating because it is otherwise *so cool* looking! I like the slow crank, then it catches speed up to a blur. That is exactly as I said.
and its funny, I didn’t initially say anything about direction. And then the moment I first hit play I’m like “no, no”. You’d think 50/50 chance, right? Maybe flipping the image? But of course the plane is not symmetrical in detail. Oof.
