Today we made it down to where we’d left the elves. With the help of the Lanthorn we were transported right to the hidden gates of the their missing city. A mixture of Drow, Rakshasa, Golems and others had just entered and were distracted by their own looting and destruction. Time to take out the trash…

Aerie spotted a group of Drow breaking into a temple, looks like a good place to start…
There were several large Golems to face.
In a clearing on the edge of town we faced a Black Dragon.

With the help of the Elven soldiers and General Elhan we cleared the city in about an hour, but Irenicus had seized a site sacred to the elves, the “Tree of Life” and had the queen as a hostage. He was performing some rite to become a new deity.

Irenicus really should have kept his hood on.
Jaheira felt a particular rage towards this monster, I think this wrath has driven her since he took her husband from her.
“Kiss for luck.” “you know that’s the only ‘buff’ I need!”

We ended Irenicus’ deluded dreams. Although he had one last dirty trick, he still held a part of my soul and used it drag us all to the Abyss after him. I’m really getting tired of that place.
I had to pass a series of five tests, gee the demons think I’m good. Their judgement matters so much to me. Finally we found Irenicus behind a large golden gate.

“That look is really you Jon. You have something that doesn’t belong to you, and I will have it back!”

This was a much easier fight than back at the Tree, Even with the help of several demons I get the feeling Irenicus was already diminished.
This finally did it. I felt my missing part return in a rush. And we were all pulled back to the Elven City.

When we awoke in Suldanesslar the elves celebrated with us and started a grand party.

We spent a few days with the elves, we had been through a lot. It felt good to be whole again, and to have all my friends with me intact.
I want so much to just be done with this life already. But now we’re hearing rumbles of a Bhaalspawn War starting to the south.

That’s definitely a different take on Irenicus than I went with. Looks very Frankenstein-y, which, all things considered, is a decent way to go. Probably closer to his game art than my attempts. Its so hard to get anything that looks like his BG2 portrait. I just completely fail at coming up with a usable verbal description of that. Don’t remember what I ended up using in my descriptions of him, but I never got a combo I liked very much.

Diomedes and the Golem looks very… Final Fantasy-esque. Like that image could have come straight out of a video game promo. I’ve notice the AI interprets the term “Golem” very, very differently depending upon context. Not sure if you used that.

The elven ruins with Aeria are great. As is the whole picture with the dragon. The perspective there does a good job of masking the AI’s issues with scale on big monsters. You can’t tell from the perspective and lighting how far away he really is anyway, so your mind just fits it in with something that “feels right”. And Diomedes and Psyche always look good together. That’s one of those pairs that seems to just “work” when you put them together with the AI. As opposed to the ones that fight you the whole way.

Slayer form is pretty obnoxious to get as well. I ended up with a spider-alien monstrosity trying to both match the game art and come up with something that would be semi-consistent in multiple images. But for what it is in the lore I think your demonic spikey-dude works as well as anything, and he certainly looks appropriately menacing in the scene where Psyche is telling him off.

it always is interesting how some renders come easily and some do not. Irenicus was not what I thought I was describing! I said “ruined face with new one crudely sewn on”. And it rendered Frankenstein’s monster. On occasion it was the Terminator. But as you say, Frankenstein’s monster is not terrible for Irenicus.

overall the setting here came out well, “dappled sunlight” in most of them. That also worked I thought. Of course I wanted acid, not flame, for the dragon. But I wasn’t getting it, and I otherwise liked this render.

For the golem I’d said “magical stone automaton”. But they were all pretty giant roboty. I was okay with that, except I wanted to get the sword out of its hand. But I was out of room to tell it what to do with fists, so I sort of had take what I got. I do have to say a big thank you for helping me find descriptors to better describe action. A lot of these come out more exciting when you give characters something to do!

I did also get some inspiration from you on the slayer. I’d said “long and spindly limbs, reddish skin with spiky spines, glowing eyes, huge mouth with razor sharp teeth”. Most renders came out well, it was only a matter of getting one with the two characters facing each other down.

As for Diomedes and Psyche, yeah they usually come out pretty well together. I usually put “husband and wife” somewhere in the description, and the AI knows what to do with that. The only complication here, was a determination to make everyone elves. Presumably since the setting led off with “elven city”. I put Keldorn in the glade with the dragon because it would not render him as human in the city. Diomedes came out pretty well every time ?! Psyche was about 50/50 on human or elf. But that last one was a sure keeper, she looked just like several views we’ve had of her.

a fun set! As typical now, as I enter ToB, my mind is already on my next run. But I hope to finish up now in the next week. I suspect I’ll revisit this team as the AI improves.
