Epilogue

After securing the safety of the Ten Towns, the six friends took stock of the situation.

Astolpho and Anastasia stayed in Easthaven. They built a Temple to Lathander as there wasn’t one in the area. This became a base for protecting the North. They provided stability and security for the region, and in time, so did their children. Anastasia was known as the area’s best healer, Astolpho trained and organized the local militia.
Marcus and Carmen were married in the new Temple, and also stayed put. Sort of. They built a home right near their friends Astolpho and Anastasia. But they often traveled, mostly among the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale. Marcus was known for his friendly concern for all local residents and was eager to connect people with solutions and aid. Carmen was known for her jovial laugh and bone crushing hugs.

Eriksen, the only local of the band of heroes, also stayed nearby. In Kuldahar. He was less visible than his more social friends, but he always watched for trouble and knew all the goings on in the area.

Patrick traveled the most, and was rarely in the North. But he visited when he could, every couple years he would drop by.

*****

I tore through the end game quite quickly. This seemed to be a very effective party in the end. Only a single mage, and he was multi-class! But three warriors (including an Undead Hunter and a Berserker) and a single class cleric. Made for a lot of hitting power and a lot of staying power. Especially considering none of these characters were super powerful or cheated (Anastasia had 95 total points, Marcus 93 and Astolpho 91. The rest were all in the 80s), this was a very good team.

These were all done in Clyde Caldwell style again. The last two, were aged ten years later.

I’ll have a new Baldur’s Gate run up, maybe tomorrow? I will likely follow a similar style, fewer updates and much less text. But renders of things, especially my characters, as it strikes my fancy.

A fitting sendoff for all of them.

That style is working really well for you. Some of those monsters came out really nicely – the Salamander, Fire Giants, and Shrieker are all great!

Not sure if its intended, but Anastasia and the Svirfneblin gives me strong “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” vibes. 😉

You might try experimenting a bit with Jeff Easley style. That’s been a great workhorse for me. But Clyde Caldwell is working its way up my list quickly as well.

I got that with Anastasia and the Gnomes. Too funny! But I used it anyway…

I was really pleased with Caldwell on this run. Just the combination of style, detail and color all seemed right to me. Funny, I preferred that style over Elmore this time.

I’ve had to start thinking about styles purely in terms of “what kind of images does this actually generate” as opposed to associating it with the actual artists work. Sometimes it similar, sometimes it’s not. I’ve even recently taken to using Royo and Vallejo – and gotten surprisingly good results with them.

Trying to wrap up one last update before we go visit family overseas for a few weeks. Just hard to narrow down the images at the end.

Yeah interesting about “results”. I expected to always like Elmore better, and I did through the Aias run. But perhaps that worked better because the team was more outrageous and colorful? Astolpho’s team was a little grittier? And the Caldwell style picked that up better.

        Have a fun trip!
